Christian community condemns desecration incident in Sweden

A condemnation resolution was presented in the Sunday prayers in the churches of Hyderabad regarding the desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden. In Sunday services in major churches across Sindh, Leader of Diocese of Hyderabad Church and Deputy Moderator Kaleem John presented a resolution condemning desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden. It has been said in the resolution that expression of abusive content, speech, opinion or such action under the guise of religious freedom is condemnable.

He said that 37-year-old Silwan Momika, a cursed person, burnt and desecrated the Holy Quran. They demanded that he be publicly hanged for this insulting, disgraceful, hateful act. Bishop Kaleem John said that even before Sweden incident, such hateful incidents have happened in France, Norway and Denmark. The Christian community living in Pakistan have not only condemned such a shameful acts, but have also recorded a joint protest with the Islamic brothers. He said that the Christian community living in Pakistan has always demanded that the United Nations and the World institutions take strict notice of such incidents so that no one dares to do such acts again.

He said that the Church of Pakistan is engaged in service across the country without discrimination of race and color and every religion is respectable for us. He said that we have always taught inter-faith harmony, tolerance and love and respect for each other.
