LAHORE:

The suspect involved in setting two girls on fire on a rooftop in Ghaziabad was arrested on Sunday.

The victims succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Lahore Mayo Hospital.

The arrested suspect was identified as Attique and during initial investigations, he told police that he had committed the offence because he was frustrated over a domestic dispute.

Police said the two girls were sleeping on the roof of their house when they were doused in petrol and set ablaze by Attique.

An old woman was also sleeping with them, while the other family members were in a room downstairs.

Suddenly, they heard the screams at dusk.

As they rushed to help, they found the victims on fire.

The girls had sustained serious burn injuries and were admitted to Lahore Mayo Hospital for treatment, during which they died.

The Child Protection Bureau took notice of the unfortunate incident in Ghaziabad and directed its team to immediately contact the affected girls and their families.
