At least 19 people lost their lives in road accidents, drowning and roof collapse incidents across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) during first two days of Eid.
As per the Rescue 1122, five people were killed in drowning incidents in rivers and streams across the province.
Similarly, over-speeding and bike accidents killed and injured many more.
“Over all the Rescue 1122 handled 1,170 emergencies including 236 road accidents, 835 medical emergencies and seven drowning incidents as well as 27 fire eruption and 22 crimes too,” said Director General 1122, Dr Khateer Ahmad.
He said that all the leaves of the staffers had been cancelled during Eid in order to ensure speedy response in the event of an emergency across the province.
He said that 1,158 people were provided with first aid on the spot by Rescue 1122 teams too.
Despite the speedy response at least 19 people lost their lives in different incidents.
On the other hand, Rescue 1122 Swabi has issued its report for the month of June.
Two brothers drowned in Indus River in Eid. They were resident of Chota Lahore.
Drowning incidents happened despite the ban on swimming and bathing in the river as district administration in Swabi and Nowshera had imposed a complete ban under section 144.
“Nowshera Deputy Commissioner Kabir Afridi imposed section 144 on swimming in Kabul River but despite this hundreds of youngsters are bathing and swimming in Kabul River in Nowshera as there is no mechanism in place to enforce this decision and ban,” said a local resident while talking to The Express Tribune.
On the other hand, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) on Saturday concluded three-day Eidul Azha cleanliness operation.
The municipal utility collected over 11,000 tons of waste from the 65 urban union councils of the Peshawar.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Mahar Ilahi, acting Deputy Commissioner Saniya Safi and Chief Executive Officer WSSP Dr Hassan Nasir and General Manager Operation Engr Turab Shah inaugurated operation on the first day of Eid.
They distributed sweets among the sanitary workers present on the occasion and pay tribute to their dedication and commitment in cleanliness of the city.
