HARIPUR:

Water supply to all canals originating from Khanpur Dam will be resumed on Friday (today), following successful talks of local leaders with authorities concerned.

According to sources, the decision came after negotiations between Raja Junaid Zaman and Raja Ahmed Kayani, sons of former PML-N provincial minister Raja Faisal Zaman, with the Executive Engineer of Khanpur Dam and Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department. The meeting, which was held as per the instructions of Raja Faisal Zaman, aimed to address the issue of halted canal water in Tehsil Khanpur.

Sources said as a result of their efforts, the water to all canals in Khanpur Tehsil will be released.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that several villages were adversely affected by the stoppage of canal water. However, with the restoration of canal water, villages including Hattar, Shadi, Kamilpur, Raniwah, Pind Gujra, Chhachh, Khadu, Bandi Munim, Bandiglu, Dohria, Industrial Estate Hattar, and Panj Katha will now receive water again. The water supply had been discontinued for the past month.

Raja Junaid Zaman said providing electricity and water is primarily the government's responsibility.
