RAWALPINDI:

With Eidul Azha around the corner, 148 accused persons, who are confined in the Central Jail Adiala for involvement in various cases, have moved bail applications in the sessions, civil and special courts as well as the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench seeking their release based on clemency and celebrating the joys of Eid with their loved ones.

Sources said another 100 bail applications were going to be filed before Eid. They said on the occasion of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha, courts grant bail to a large number of prisoners involved in petty crimes, showing clemency to let them celebrate the joys of Eid with their family members.

During this week, the bails of 77 accused have been approved by Rawalpindi Bench, sessions and civil courts on a compassionate basis, while the high court has directed the subordinate judiciary to decide all the bail applications filed before Eid on merit.

A day before Eid, the last judicial working day, the bail section of the subordinate courts will remain open till 7pm and the release of all the accused, whose bails are granted by that time, will be ensured.
