PPP terminates Khosa for ‘crossing red line’

PPP leader accused Khosa of blackmailing party leadership when his request to appoint his son as AGP was turned down

LAHORE:

PPP Punjab President Rana Farooq Saeed has terminated the party membership of senior leader and lawyer Latif Khosa.

The president of PPP Punjab, while issuing the order, said Khosa had crossed the red line of the party and that was why action had been taken against him.

He added that Khosa was repeatedly reminded that he should not cross the party's line, but he had not followed the instructions.

The PPP Punjab president alleged that not only was Khosa availing the amenities of being the party’s lawyer, but also wanted his son to be appointed the attorney general for Pakistan (AGP).

He accused Khosa of blackmailing the party leadership when his request to appoint his son to the AGP was turned down.

Khosa, a former Punjab governor, had recently proposed to the PPP leadership that it should part ways with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to strengthen its position in Punjab.

Addressing a news conference at the Lahore High Court, Khosa said Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari should not be part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, regretting the PPP chairman’s appointment in April last year as the foreign minister.
