Police blame accomplices of victims for deaths

Two suspected criminals were killed by their accomplices during a gunfight with police within the limits of Mitro police station on Saturday.

According to police sources, two suspects identified as Shahid alias Shahdi and Khalid alias Khaldi were in police custody for six heinous crimes and police were bringing them to a location for recovery purposes.

In the meanwhile, unknown suspects started firing on the police team to free their accomplices, however police returned fire. After a gunfight that lasted longer than 20 minutes, both suspected criminals were killed by the gunfire of their own accomplices, who managed to flee the scene.

Police sources stated that the accused Shahid alias Shahidi was wanted by police in 50 cases, while Khalid alias Khaldi was wanted in 49 cases of robbery, attempted murder and other heinous crimes in Vehari, Faisalabad, Kasur and other districts.

Special teams were formed to arrest the escaped suspects, police sources added.
