KARACHI:

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has decided to launch a 'Biker Service' to facilitate people seeking new National Identity Cards or renewal of old ones. The service will offer applicants to submit their thumb impressions, pictures, etc, and receive their CNICs and other documents at their doorsteps.

According to official sources, preparations are in the final stages for launching the "Biker Service" which has already been successfully working in Islamabad. The facility would cost applicants Rs1,200 over and above the standard CNIC fee.

The "Biker Service" will help applicants avoid hassle of waiting in long queues at the NADRA facilitation centres. The service will also employ women bikers to serve women applicants, sources told The Express Tribune.

After the completion of the application process, the applicants receive identity cards at their doorsteps through the "Biker Service".

Apart from their facilitation centres, NADRA also has Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) which are parked at different locations in different cities to facilitate people applying for new identity cards or seeking renewal of old ones.

NADRA already has a "backpack facility" in place for old and paralysed people.
