KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) expressed its anger over non-recovery of missing persons and ordered Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the provincial task force, and the police to speed up the investigation.

The case was heard before a two-member bench led by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto.

Relatives of the missing persons, Riyasat Ullah, Wajid Hussain, M. Yaseen, Asif Khan, Kamran, Umar Zaman and others cry in the courtroom.

The wife of Riyasat Ullah pleaded, "What is our crime that our punishment is still going on? My husband has been missing for the last ten years.

The family of M. Yaseen also wept in the courtroom. Yaseen's mother questioned the progress of the investigation, saying, "What kind of investigation has been ongoing since 2016 without any progress?"

Expressing dissatisfaction with the police and the Sindh Interior Ministry for their failure to locate these missing people, the court remarked, "You are providing previous reports under new names. The elderly women, mothers, and sisters are worried."

Bail granted

Judicial Magistrate East in the Karachi City Court granted bail to five individuals accused of being involved in a brawl at the University of Karachi. The police produced the five suspects, Abdul Rasheed, Tariq Sami, Nadeem, Danish, and Siyam, before the court. During the proceedings, it was revealed that Abdul Rasheed’s son, Siyam, had gone to the university to pick his sister where he met an accident.

Siyam informed his father, who subsequently reached the university. Upon searching the vehicle, licensed firearms and ammunition were discovered.
