Failed assasin faces attempted murder case

KARACHI:

An attempted murder case was registered against a man a day after a political activist miraculously survived an attempt on his life in Rashidabad within the limits of Baldia Town police station.

The dramatic asasination bid was caught on a CCTV camera and the footage went viral on social media on Monday. The footage shows a political activist, Muhammad Naeem Jan, walking down a street when another man, wearing a motorcycle helmet, later identified as Usman Ghani, asks him to stop and tries to fire at him, but the bullet gets stuck in the chamber of the pistol. Ghani reloaded the pistol, but it again failed to shoot giving enough time to Naeem to make good his escape.

Naeem said in the FIR, "I left home at 6:30am on May 1. As I was walking in the street, someone called me from behind, asking me to recite kalima." He tried twice to shoot at me, but the bullets misfired," the complainant stated.
