A mass wedding ceremony was organised for 100 deserving couples, including two from the Christian community, in Marri Indus on Sunday.
Minister of State for Social Affairs Faisal Karim Kundi, former MNA Hameer Hayat Rokhrri and former provincial minister Amanatullah Shadi Khel also attended the event.
The ceremony organised by the Anjuman Social Welfare Pakki Shah Muradan was attended by relatives of the newlywed couples, as well as political, social and religious personalities.
Each bride was given dowry worth Rs100,000 on the occasion.
Addressing the event, speakers said philanthropists should actively participate in such welfare work.
The association’s patron Allama Iftikhar Hussain said marriages of 3,710 couples had been hosted during the past 25 years, while financial aid had bene given for over 10,000 marriages.
Kundi said the event was an example for others to follow, especially as a manifestation of religious harmony.
