KARACHI:

Police have arrested a madrassa teacher in Lyari after a video went viral in which the man can be seen hitting a child.

Lyari SP Arif Aziz said they traced the madrassa and arrested Qari Mohammad Wasif. In the video, Wasif can be seen holding the child, no more than six years old, with both hands.

As the child winces and cries, he tries to shut him up. As the child tries to wiggle out, Wasif pins him to the ground and seems to choke or gag him to stop him from crying.

As the child continues to cry, he then picks him up where the video ends.

Throughout the video, children at the madrassa can be seen watching in stunned silence as their teacher resorts to brutality against a child.

Police said the teacher admitted to losing his temper and hitting the boy because he had had not been memorising his lessons for several days.

The teacher has apologised for torturing the student and promised that he would not do any such thing again, according to SP Aziz.
