Sindh Women Development Minister Shehla Raza urged the Sindh police to not only register first information reports (FIR) but also ensure the timely resolution of women’s issues and ensure provision of justice through investigation.
She said this during a meeting with Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office in Karachi on Thursday.
Additional IG Javed Alam Odho, who was part of the meeting, informed the minister that instructions had been issued to complaint centres to maintain a permanent link with the Women Development Department to prevent crimes. He also suggested creating a WhatsApp group for the timely sharing of information and complaints.
The minister said that women development department was running a complaint cell, Darul Aman and 23 safe houses.
She also directed the sharing of data on crimes against women and strengthening relations with the her department at all levels.
DIGs and AIGs from different police ranges attended the meeting, both in-person and via video link.
