Provinces sign off on new curriculum for Grades 9-12

Single core curriculum to be taught across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:

The National Curriculum Council (NCC) Secretariat achieved a historic milestone on Wednesday as provincial representatives from signed off on the single national curriculum for grades 9 through 12.

This marks the first time in Pakistan's history that a core curriculum has been finalised for the entire nation, including Early Childhood Education, said a press release said.

NCC Director Dr Mariam Chughtai expressed her gratitude to the provincial focal persons who played an instrumental role in facilitating this nationwide curriculum reform.

Amir Riaz from Punjab), Zulfiqar Khan from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa), Piyaro Khan from Sindh, Muhammed Saeed from Balochistan, Raja Muhammad Naseer Khan from Azad Jammu and Kashmir), Faizullah Lone from Gilgit Baltistan and Khwaja Mazhar ul Haq from South Punjab finalised the nitty-gritty details of the new curriculum.

The signing was held at the inter-provincial curriculum workshop, where the curriculum for mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pak Studies and computer science, was finalised.
