More love, less action? Salman, Pooja’s romance dominates 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' trailer

While fans complained about a ‘lack of action sequence', the second half features several gory scenes

The wait for Salman Khan’s upcoming Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan became even harder after everyone saw the magnanimous Shah Rukh Khan production, Pathaan. To fans’ delight, the trailer for the action thriller was released on Monday. While fans loved a hint of a love story, the “lack of action sequences” disappointed many.

A little over three minutes, the trailer gives a sneak peek into two subplots for the film; Salman and Pooja Hedge’s budding romance and the enemies of “Bhaijaan” – a name that he goes by in the film. The first half of the clip features cheesy one-liners from the lead couple only for their love story to be interrupted by Salman’s enemies coming after his love and her family – one that is strictly against violence.

The Bhaijaan now takes it upon himself to fight off all goons alone – in the name of “self-defence” – and proves his enemies wrong about them seeking power from violence. “When a violent man goes after a non-violent person, then the non-violent person needs the support of a very violent man,” says Salman in the trailer implying that he’ll even “die” for Pooja and her family.

The trailer is a little gory with buildings falling down and hammers being thrown in the air, but what’s an action thriller without some blood, right? Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, directed by Farhad Samji, promises a "face-breaking, bone-cracking, neck-twisting, hammer-hitting " action saga. Packed with all commercial formula film elements, the film will release on the occasion of Eidul Fitr on April 21.

It also stars Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Siddharth Nigam, Venkatesh, Vijender Singh, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla and Abhimanyu Singh – some of which were also featured in the trailer. The film was previously titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali.

This isn’t the first time Salman has released a film on Eid. The actor has, for a long time, tasted success over the years with his festive releases. Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bodyguard, Sultan and Dabangg are some examples. On the work front, Salman was last seen in a cameo appearance in Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan. Besides Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman has Tiger 3 with Katrina Kaif in the pipeline.
