KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader and Adviser on Agriculture, Manzoor Wasan has predicted that significant changes may occur this year and major decisions will be taken. He hinted at the possibility of a temporary neutral government, a caretaker administration, or an emergency situation in the country.

Although the PPP wants the country's elections to take place, Wasan noted that the current circumstances indicate that they may not happen on schedule.

He stated that holding general elections in October could be challenging due to terrorism and insufficient funds for administration.

Wasan emphasised that the detention of Imran Khan is no longer relevant and there is a plot to weaken the federation.

He also warned politicians that if they do not make wise decisions, they may end up behind bars, as politicians frequently do.

"Imran Khan is unlikely to be re-elected as prime minister or come to the power," Wasan said, adding that PPP has more chances of forming the next government than Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

This year is expected to witness the emergence of new parties in political groups, he mentioned.
