ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board has altered existing rules regarding offering jobs to the children of its deceased employees under the prime minister's package. The CDA board has approved permanent employment for the children of the deceased employees according to their qualifications.

The CDA board also approved the establishment of a dedicated building control agency to carry out the beautification of Islamabad. CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Noor-ul-Amin Mengal chaired the board meeting. In the meeting, a total of 17 agenda items were hashed out and six were approved.

Sources said that the meeting also approved the adoption of Service Rules 2020 for the eradication of corruption in CDA, under which the agency was empowered to forcibly dismiss officers and employees found involved in corruption and other crimes.

The alteration of these service rules aims at establishing better discipline in the civic agency. After the signatures of the CDA chairman and members on the minutes of the meeting, the service rules will come into force.

The sources said that approval had also been given to establish a solid waste management agency to improve the sanitation system in Islamabad, while the establishment of a Parks and Horticulture Agency has also been approved. The meeting also approved the transfer of CDA's transport directorate from the engineering wing to the planning wing.
