Armed men rob builder of Rs59.4 million in Karachi

Police trying to get footage of the CCTV cameras to trace the accused

Armed robbers on Tuesday snatched a whopping Rs59.4 million from a builder in Karachi's Bahadurabad neighbourhood.

According to the police, the four unidentified suspects escaped after robbing builder Raheel Abdul Ghaffar of the huge amount at gunpoint near a superstore within the limits of Bahadurabad police station. The case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

The victim informed the police in his statement that he is a resident of Defence Phase IV and has an office under the name of OK Estate & Builder in Bahadurabad. He narrated the details of the incident, stating that at around 11 o'clock on Tuesday evening, he was in his car along with his driver when their car was intercepted by two accused riding a car near a superstore and bakery in Bahadurabad.

He further said that two more accused riding a motorcycle were also involved, taking the total number of suspects to four.

"At gunpoint, they asked us to come out of the vehicle and drove away in our car. I had Rs59.4 million wrapped in four pieces of cotton in the vehicle. The accused also snatched our mobile phones and cash in our pocket and fled with the cash in the car,” the victim said, adding that the accused were dressed in shalwar kameez, and their age was around 30 years.

The police have taken the car into custody, which was left by the accused a distance away from the site of the incident. The authorities are trying to get footage from the CCTV cameras in the area to trace the accused. In this regard, SHO Qurban Ali Abbasi said that the police are working on the case and have initiated an investigation to identify the accused.

Incidents of robbery have been on the rise in the city lately, and the police have been working to apprehend the culprits. However, it seems that the robbers are becoming bolder and more daring, as they continue to target civilians in broad daylight.

This latest incident has once again highlighted the need for increased security measures in the city to prevent such crimes from taking place. The authorities are expected to take swift action to apprehend the accused and ensure that justice is served.
