Murder Trial: Convict sentenced to death over rail track shooting
Court sentenced a murder convict to death for shooting a neighbour who had confronted him for teasing his sister.

An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sentenced a murder convict to death for shooting a neighbour who had confronted him for teasing his sister.
Khurram Shahzad was recently convicted of killing Irfan Ahmed on June 18, 2007, after the latter told him not to stand near the track outside his house in Railway City Quarter, Raiwind, as his sister passed by that way to get to school. The two got into a heated argument and Shahzad pulled out a gun and shot Ahmed in the chest. He later died of his injuries in Jinnah Hospital. City Raiwind police registered a murder case against him. Judge Mahrukh Aziz Tarar, announcing the sentence on Friday, also handed Shahzad a fine of Rs200,000. If he can’t pay, six months will be added to his prison term.
