
Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal has issued instructions to launch a large-scale operation against illegal constructions in Islamabad.
Following the orders, Building Control Director Shafi Marwat has issued a letter to seal and demolish 787 buildings in the suburbs of the federal capital in the first phase.
According to the letter, in the first phase, illegal constructions in the areas of PWD, Lehtrar Road, Simly Dam Road and Kurri Road have been asked to be sealed and demolished.
In addition, the IT department of CDA has been directed to release the details of these buildings on the websites. This has been done to raise awareness among the public to not invest in these buildings.
Meanwhile, orders have also been issued to initiate criminal proceedings against the owners of the illegal buildings.
An enforcement operation against illegal construction has also been scheduled for Monday, February 27.
Among the projects that have been identified, 96 are located in Bani Gala, 75 in PWD, 43 in National Police Foundation, 146 on Simly Dam Road, 300 on Lehtrar Road, and 43 on Kurri Road.
‘Early execution of housing projects’
On the other hand, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed the CDA to ensure fast-track and early execution of housing projects for overseas Pakistanis by maintaining international standards and transparency through an online system.
He gave these directions while chairing a meeting on development projects of the CDA, said a press release.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM on Revenue Tariq Pasha, Secretary Finance, Member (Planning & Design) CDA, Member (Estate) CDA, DG (Land) CDA and senior officers from Finance Division attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the progress on the development projects carried out by the CDA, especially related to housing projects for overseas Pakistanis.
The meeting was apprised that CDA has initiated a number of short-term and medium-term housing projects for overseas Pakistanis.
