KHUSHAB:

Three people were gunned down by unidentified assailants in the Hadali area on Saturday. Local police reached the spot immediately upon report and cordoned off the crime scene.

Sources said that the three victims, Umar Daraz, Ghulam Fareed and Khan Pankash, were travelling in a car when they were intercepted and fired upon by unknown gunmen on a motorcycle. The deceased were all residents of Battewala.

DPO Khushab Shaista Nadeem visited the site of the incident and formed a team under the supervision of DSP Saddar and SHO Saddar, in order to trace and arrest the suspects using all available resources.

The crime scene unit also reached the spot. As per initial investigations, the incident appears to have been driven by an old enmity.

According to a spokesperson for Khushab police, DPO Shaista Nadeem ordered SHO Saddar Joharabad Police Station to ensure the speedy arrest of the perpetrators.

This is not the first incident of murder over old enmity that has been reported in the area. In April 2021, four people were killed and three others were injured in an ambush on Sandral Road over an old enmity.

Raja Mohammad Yaqoob, Mohammad Tahir, Mohammad Naveed and Nasr Iqbal were killed in the attack, while Rana Muhammad Aamir, Mohammad Israr and Mohammad Khan were injured. Rana was said to be in a critical condition.

According to police sources, the deceased Yaqoob and seven others were going from Jhangian to Joharabad, when a group of assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the car on Sandral Road. Sources said that in 2016, the deceased Yaqoob’s son was killed by members of the Awan group over a minor dispute.
