Two-day Hyderabad Festival kicks off today

Prominent experts to express their views, offer suggestions to the government during various sessions of the festival

HYDERABAD:

The eighth Hyderabad Festival opening on Saturday (today) is dedicated to flood victims, organisers told a press conference on Friday.

Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah will inaugurate the two-day festival hosted by the Academy for the Promotion of Art, Literature and Literacy at the Sindh Museum, Hyderabad.

Chief Organiser of the festival Izhar Soomro, Sindh Rural Partner Organisation (SRPO) Executive Director Zahida Dehto, University of Sindh Institute of Art and Design Director Dr Saeed Mangi and Sindh Indigenous and Traditional Craft Company (SITCO) Director Shakeel Munawar Abro addressed the joint press conference at Hyderabad Press Club.

They said that the festival is dedicated to flood victims while the theme of the festival is flood, its cause and future preventive measures.

Prominent experts will express their views and offer suggestions to the government during various sessions of the festival.

A total of 34 different sessions will be held in the two-day festival and experts will express their views on various topics and answer the questions of the participants.

A craft market is also being organised during the festival and donations will be collected for the financial assistance of the flood victims.

Sindhi and Urdu poetry recitations, photo exhibition and musical concert will also be organised.
