Nepali envoy seeks stronger ties with Pakistan

Says both armies have close and friendly relations and they support each other in peacekeeping operations

ISLAMABAD:

Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari on Tuesday said Pakistan and Nepal have a huge prospect of further expanding bilateral relations.

Addressing an event arranged to celebrate the 260th Raising Day of the Nepalese army, he said, one important facet of the Nepal-Pakistan relations is military-to-military cooperation.

Both armies have close and friendly relations and they support each other in peacekeeping operations, he said. The establishment of formal relations in 1960 between the two south Asian countries paved the way for greater cooperation which he said was based on goodwill, mutual trust, and cooperation.

“Both countries hold similar views on many issues of common interests. People-to-people contacts, trade, and economic cooperation are part of bilateral relations." The ambassador said the Nepalese embassy in Islamabad had been working closely to expand our relations.

He said the army was one of the oldest and continuously serving army institutions in the world.
