Sindh govt to excavate iron ore in Thar

Qamar said that the project will help save foreign exchange spent on import of iron ore

The Sindh government on Monday held a meeting to discuss the project pertaining to extraction, processing, value addition and distribution of iron ore extracted from the mineral-rich fields of Tharparkar and Jhimpir with cooperation of the private sector.

The meeting was held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of CM's Special Assistant for Investment and Public Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar.

The meeting was informed that private sector firm Agha Steel has expressed interest in processing and supply of iron ore extracted from Tharparkar and Jhimpir for which a plant will be set up at Port Qasim.

Qamar said that the project will help save foreign exchange spent on import of iron ore.
