The Sindh police chief, Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon, on Sunday ordered to increase security around the Police Lines Quarters and the mosques located near them.
The office of the Karachi police chief, located in the area, was brazenly targeted on Friday evening.
At least five people, including three law enforcers, were killed in the hours-long operation.
IG Memon presided over the high-level meeting to reinforce security.
Additional IGs Javed Alam Odho of Karachi, Imran Yaqoob Minhas of CID and Khadim Hussain Rind of the Special Branch as well as senior police officers including zonal DIGs and subordinate SSPs were present at the meeting.
The police chief also tasked his subordinates to increase security at sensitive installations, government buildings and offices, and training centers.
Sindh Assembly security was also amped up as part of the security measures. The guest passes issued for the Sindh Assembly have been cancelled, said a Sindh Assembly Secretariat notification.
Only journalists will be allowed inside the assembly session, it said.
The session has been scheduled for 10am today (Monday), with members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) instructed not to bring any guests other than their driver.
Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, whose office was the subject of the attack, vowed to bring the terrorists and facilitators involved in the attack to justice.
Speaking to the media outside the National Stadium, Odho said that he has come to inspect the security for the Pakistan Super League match.
He said around 7,000 personnel were performing security duties for the marquee cricket tournament matches in the city.
"This includes elite squads like the Rapid Response Force and the Special Security Unit.
Around 75 vehicles and fifty motorcycles are also on security duty," he said.
He said that the families of around 50 martyrs were at the stadium to watch the match as guests of Pakistan Cricket Board.
