Compensation: Rs1m for information on Karachi’s killers

Eid holidays for police officers cancelled.

The Sindh government has announced a reward of one million rupees for any information leading to the arrest of people involved in the Karachi violence and the police’s Eid holidays have been cancelled.



The sum was decided at a law and order meeting at Chief Minister House co-chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

He told the gathering that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had been getting daily updates about the targeted operation against the suspects that will continue until peace returns. He said that Rangers have been empowered and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel are being deployed. The families of those who were killed in Chakra Goth violence would be compensated with Rs500,000 and the injured with Rs200,000.  Malik, who went to Bilawal Colony in Korangi on Friday morning to supervise the operation in person, said that over two dozen suspects were arrested from the area and that 71 guns, TT pistols and materials used in preparing hand grenades were seized.
