Woman allegedly raped by senior cop

Rather than going to arrest the suspect, Gondal drove the woman to a hotel and allegedly drugged her

A woman was allegedly raped by In-charge investigation at Hayer Police station.

The victim stated that she was the complainant in a rape case already registered with the Hayer police station. The suspect, Abdullah, was a proclaimed offender in the case and the investigation was being conducted by the anti-gender based crime cell Mustafabad.

She approached In-charge Investigation Saqlain Gondal to expedite action on the case and he assured her of his support and arrest of the accused person, adding that he would remain in contact with her. On Friday, he called the victim and asked her to reach Rohi Drain on Bedian Road to point out the suspect’s house so that police could arrest him.

She asked if she could wait for her husband to escort her, but on his insistence, she joined Gondal alone. However, rather than going to arrest the suspect, Gondal drove the woman to a hotel and allegedly drugged and raped her.

Lahore DIG Investigations Sohail Sukhera took notice of the incident and sought a report from SSP investigations Anoush Masood Chaudhry within 24 hours after a thorough inquiry.
