Airport police arrested a suspected robber who was injured an exchange of fire near the Jinnah International Terminal early Monday. A head constable was also shot while the suspect's accomplice managed to flee.
Ghulam Qadir, the head constable at the Airport police station, was shifted to a private hospital and the suspect was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment. The policeman was said to be critical.
The suspect has since succumbed to his injuries. Police said that confirmation of his identity was pending.
A weapon, mobile phone, cash and a stolen motorcycle were seized from the injured suspect.
Suspected robber nabbed
The Eidgah police arrested a suspected criminal following an exchange of fire at Nishtar Road on Monday. The wounded suspect Muhammad Waleed Baloch, 25, was shifted to the Civil Hospital.
Police said that his accomplice was able to flee the scene.
A pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash were recovered from the injured suspect.
Investigators said they will interrogate the suspect about the incidents and the accomplice once had received medical attention.
Suspect injured in 'encounter'
Orangi Town police arrested a suspect in an injured condition following an alleged encounter near the Eidgah Ground, Baloch Goth. The injured, identifeida s 27-year-old Khan Muhammad, was arrested with a 30 bore pistol and ammunition, a mobile phone, cash and a motorcycle believed to be stolen.
Another held as accomplice flees
Landhi police arrested a mugger in an injured condition after an alleged encounter near in the area. The suspect Hazrat Ali was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment. Police said that a second suspect was able to escape. A pistol, three mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspect.
