US ambassador stresses on increasing cooperation in IT, telecom

Pakistan is getting an important place in the technology world, said the United States Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome on Wednesday.

He stressed ‘increasing cooperation in the IT and telecom sector between the two countries’.

The US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque on Wednesday.

While talking to the US ambassador, Minister for IT Amin Ul Haque said there were numerous opportunities for US tech companies in the IT and telecom sector of Pakistan.

He highlighted the dire need of enhancing Pak-US cooperation in the IT and telecom sector besides boosting business ties.

The minister informed that work is underway on over 70 projects worth Rs65 billion for ensuring connectivity across the country.

“Personal Data Protection Bill and Social Media Rules are business-friendly, both the bills will be forwarded to relevant forums for approval within three to four weeks,” said Haque.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed.

MoITT Additional Secretary (Incharge) Mohsin Mushtaq, MoITT Additional Secretary Aisha Humera Moriani,  Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and DG International Coordination Sayed Jawwad Ali were also present at the meeting.
