KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Naeemur Rehman on Sunday said that JI will sweep the loal government elections, which he said were being only because of JI’s struggle.

He expressed these views while speaking to the media after casting his vote at UC8 Al Falah Block A North Nazimabad Alimia School.

Naeem said that MQM and PPP did not allow local bodies’ elections in Sindh for many years.

He urged the people of Karachi to come out of their homes and cast votes.

He said that there have been reports from many places that the polling process was delayed, which was the incompetence of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The commission should extend the time where the polling was delayed, he said.

The request was however rejected by ECP and polling concluded at stipulated time.

“People have come to realize that only Jamaat-e-Islami has the solution to Karachi’s problems,” the city’s JI chief said.

Regarding the reports of violence, he said miscreants were trying to disturb peace at sensitive places to disrupt the polling process.

Taking a swipe at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan reunification, Naeem said if there was life in MQM, it would not have boycotted the local government elections.

“Muttahida has taken the escape route,” he said adding there were many conspiracies against holding of the LG elections till last night and MQM tried their best to prevent the election, which kept the people confused.

“Today is a make and break affair for the people of Karachi.

We have to break the power of the waderas,” he said adding, “the unidentified people spreading fear and panic, are very muh identified and known to the people of the city.”
