KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the IG Sindh to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on the petition against the death of a youth in an alleged police encounter.

A single bench consisting of Justice Zulfikar Ahmed Khan heard a petition against the youth’s demise.

At the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer advocate Liaqat Gabol stated before the judge that Muhammad Bakhsh was abducted from his house by policemen named Mehboob Khoso, Salim and others. The police demanded Rs300,000 lakh for his release. As the family could not pay the money, the policeman killed Mohammad Bakhsh in a fake police encounter in Sukhan area, he said.

The report was submitted to the court on behalf of the police authorities, which stated that various cases were registered against the deceased youth Mohammad Bakhsh. A case of police encounter was also registered against the victim in Sukhan police station. The victim was also a drug dealer, said the report.

The court remarked that even if the victim had a criminal record, he should have been presented in the court.
