Three shot dead after bid to resolve land dispute

Official called rival groups to police station for reconciliation

DIJKOT:

At least three people were killed and three others injured in indiscriminate firing on a car taking the victims home after an attempt for reconciliation in a police station over a land dispute.

The injured men were shifted to hospital. Police also took the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem.

According to police officials, the land dispute involved Mian Basharat and Liaqat Chharra, residents of Chak 274RB.

Both the groups were called to the Dijkot police station by ASI Qaim Din.

They were returning after making a deal in the police station, when Mian Basharat’s vehicle came under indiscriminate fire near Sadiqabad bridge.

Qaisar, aged 41, a resident of Chak 274RB; Boota, 60; and 45-year-old Sarfaraz Kamboh died on the spot. Mian Basharat, Khalid Ali and Usman were injured in the attack They were shifted to the Allied Hospital by Rescue 1122 staff.

The bodies were shifted to the Dijkot Rural Health Centre for post-mortem.

The police said they had carried out raids to arrest the killers.
