Rain, snowfall forecast in parts of country

ISLAMABAD:

A new advisory has been issued for more rain and snow on the mountains this week. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snow from Wednesday to Friday, along with the possibility of landslides, while road closures are also expected.

According to the advisory of the Meteorological Department, western winds are entering North Balochistan from the night of January 10. The new western system will affect the upper regions of the country from January 11 including Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Ziarat, and Nokundi.

During this Dalbandin, Harnai, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Muslim Bagh and Pishin are also likely to receive rain and snow.

Whereas from January 11 to 13 light to moderate rain is also expected in Islamabad, Potohar, Charsadda, Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Leh, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Hafizabad. , Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sahiwal, Okara and Lahore.

There is a possibility of light to heavy snowfall in Murree, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, and Mansehra between January 11 and 13.

Due to heavy snowfall, roads are likely to be closed and vehicular traffic could be disrupted. Meanwhile, there is a risk of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Tourists are advised to be cautious during rains, during which the intensity of fog is likely to decrease while the temperature is likely to drop significantly. All concerned agencies are advised to remain alert during this time.
