KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Women Wing President and Chairperson, Sindh Assembly Standing Committee on Home Faryal Talpur said that PPP has always stood and strived for women's rights and empowerment in Pakistan.

Speaking at the social protection convention organised by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) at Pakistan Arts Council Karachi, Faryal Talpur said that only educated, skilled and financially stable women can stand equal and empowered.

Talpur counted many firsts on women-led initiatives by the PPP from First Women Bank to Women Police Station to Lady Health Workers Programmes, which started during the tenures of Benazir Bhutto.

She added that the most recent initiative on empowering women economically by the Sindh government was the handing over of 25 acres of land to the landless women farmers in Sindh.

She said that another women-led initiative called Pink Taxis by the Sindh government will be launched soon in Karachi, which would travel to other parts of the province.
