Police have cracked the mystery of the body found dumped on November 17 in a garbage bin near a power loom factory in Saeedabad Mill Area.
The police have arrested the owner of a closed textile mill for the murder. The deceased Muhammad Yasir was addicted to drugs and had entered the factory with the intention of theft. The victim was shot dead by the mill owner.
Madina Colony police station SHO sharing details of the incident told The Express Tribune that investigations led to a suspect, Muhammad Abeer, a loom factory owner, who has confessed to his crime and expressed remorse over the incident.
The SHO quoting the confessional statement of the suspect said that his factory was shut due to lack of orders, however, he was upset due to recurrent cases of thefts.
Abeer claimed that Yasir had entered his factory on November 4 and stole two motors and managed to get out from the main door.
On November 14, Yasir again entered the factory and disassemble two motors, but this time there was a big lock on the main door and he could not take the motors out. Therefore, Yasir left the two motors there.
Abeer alarmed at the thefts decided to spend the night in the closed textile mill to stand watch on his machinery. He was armed with his licenced pistol.
On November 15, the deceased again entered the factory and managed to take both the motors out of the factory through the roof.
Abeer said he shouted at Yasir to stop but he suddenly put his hand in his pocket, "I thought he would pull out a weapon and therefore I opened fire in panic." The accused said he was scared and regretted his mistake.
