Newlywed couple die due to gas leakage

Precautionary steps ignored in geyser installation

LAHORE:

A newlywed couple died reportedly of suffocation due to gas leakage from a geyser in Mustafa Town on Wednesday.

The victims Shariq and Humna were married a few days back. They went to sleep at night in their house in a private housing society near Canal Road, but did not open the door when a family member went to see them in the morning.

The police were alerted and they entered the house. The victims were found unconscious in a room. Rescue 1122 teams were called for help, but they found the victims dead, following which the bodies were moved to a morgue for autopsy.

Initial investigations indicated that the victims had died because of suffocation due to gas leakage from an instant geyser.

The police said they were investigating the matter.

A police official told The Express Tribune that the instant geyser emitted poisonous gases while heating water.

He said the precautionary measures had been ignored while installing the geyser.
