Marriage in Pakistan is celebrated as the greatest milestone for young women. Since childhood, women are instructed to study well, groom their appearance and behave in a certain way only to achieve one goal: tying the knot before turning 25. Actor Sajal Aly, however, believes that marriage should not be considered the sole achievement of a girl’s life and urged women to aim for larger pursuits in life.

In an interview with CNN-News18, the Mom actor spoke about her character Maymouna's relationship in the much-awaited Jemima Khan directorial What's Love Got to Do with It? Referring to the role, she said, "I feel like a lot of South Asian women will relate to my character due to the struggles she faces in her life. However, the great part is that at the end of the movie, she will have the courage to tell her family and her husband that their marriage is not working out."

Aly then went on comment how it's okay to part ways from an unhealthy bond. "It's okay to separate your ways and be friends if a relationship isn't working out. The pressure to remain in a troublesome marriage isn't right."

The Sinf-e-Aahan actor noted how women need to dream bigger than just tying the knot and having children. "I feel like marriage is a beautiful relationship but don't just make your life all about it. Make it a part of your life but don't let it consume everything. There is so much to see beyond just being married," she shared.

While acknowledging the importance of marriage, Aly once again reminded women that they are capable of achieving much more in life. "There is so much more the world offers us, but we don't think about that because of the bubble we all live in. It has become a routine for us: to just get married and then have children. Do this too, but especially women should never stop living and dreaming for themselves. They have the power to achieve all their ambitions in life," she stated.

Aly then concluded the conversation by highlighting the value of self-love. She said, "In the end, happiness will always depend on you only, no one else. Once one finds bliss within themselves, it automatically attracts others with the same energy."
