The number of pending cases in the Supreme Court (SC) has been decreased by 2, 653, according to the data released for the current calendar year 2022, which ended on December 16.
The decline in the number of undecided cases is reported for the first time since computerisation of records in 2013.
Despite pending appointments, the SC judges have outperformed themselves without full strength of the judges since February 2022.
According to the chart released by the SC, the number of filed cases was more than the decided cases every year since 2013, piling up the burden of cases on the court.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Atta Bandial paid special attention to deal with the pending cases, formulating a policy to hear cases every day.
