LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has banned the procurement of new vehicles and announced a 50 per cent reduction in non-development expenses of all government departments, including the CM Office.

Presiding over a meeting on Tuesday, he issued strict instructions to implement an austerity policy and took major decisions to reduce government expenditure.

The chief minister also sought complete record of state land in Punjab within seven days. A comprehensive policy will be prepared to transparently auction the government land.

He called for out-of-the-box measures to increase provincial resources and stressed that line departments should introduce steps to increase revenue.

He made it clear that it was the responsibility of the departments to ensure achievement of targets set for increasing the financial resources within the stipulated period by adopting concrete measures in this regard. This would help to provide more facilities to the citizens, he noted.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Kinnaird College for Women University called on the CM who announced a grant of Rs80 million for the institution and said the Punjab government would extend full support for organising an exhibition.
