‘Pakistan committed to OIC’s STI agenda 2026’
Pakistan is committed to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Agenda 2026 and its other initiatives such as the COMCEC’s high-level Digital Initiative/Programme, said Syed Aminul Haque, Federal Minister of IT and Telecommunication (ITT) on Monday.
“The government of Pakistan is investing heavily in the development of a knowledge-based economy, and digitally empowered society, through the use and adoption of inclusive, affordable, and sustainable technology,” said Haque.
Talking to an OIC delegation, the federal minister appreciated the OIC for facilitating with joint efforts to develop a digital economy and accelerate digital transformation in OIC member states.
He also discussed matters of mutual interest and cooperation between Pakistan and the OIC in the sphere of information and communication technologies (ICT).
Highlighting that Pakistan’s ICT exports have doubled in the last three years, he stated that the importance of ICT in the development and economic growth of the country is vital and the government is working closely with the ICT sector to implement policies and measures to energise both, technology export and domestic adoption.
