One killed, another injured during firing at wedding party

The two injured were rushed to the Army Foundation Hospital, where the doctors pronounced one dead on arrival

RAWALPINDI:

At least one person was killed and another seriously injured during a firing on guests at a wedding party in the Mohalla Jhamra neighbourhood of the Morgah police limits.

The suspects opened fire on the guests after they were barred from resorting to aerial firing at the wedding, eyewitnesses and police said.

Muhammad Parvaiz Iqbal lodged a complaint with the police that while Altaf's wedding was under way between the night of Thursday and Friday, when Yasin Khan, Shair Khan, Turab Khan, Hasan, Bilal, and others started ariel firing, creating panic among the guests.

The complainant said that when his son Mohsin Iqbal barred them from making the aerial firing, the accused, Turab Khan, Shair Khan, Noor Hassan, and Yaseen, started firing directly at the guests. As a result, Mohsin Iqbal was fatally injured and Mujahid Khan was seriously injured. A bullet hit Mohsin's cheek and another pierced through Mujahid Khan's neck, he said.

The two injured were rushed to the Army Foundation Hospital, where the doctors pronounced Mohsin Iqbal dead on arrival owing to profuse bleeding caused by the bullet injury. While Mujahid was admitted to the hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

The police have registered a case against the fleeing accused.
