Dispute reconciliation centres inaugurated

Federal Shariat Court Chief Justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar along with Islamabad IGP Dr Akbar Nasir Khan Wednesday formally inaugurated alternate dispute resolution centres in the federal capital.

According to a police spokesman, a ceremony was held at the Police Lines Headquarters auditorium which was also attended by the members of Alternate Dispute Resolution Centres and other senior police officers.

Chief Justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar while addressing the ceremony said, he had given a suggestion to the Islamabad IGP for the establishment of these centres some time ago. Upon which he worked scrupulously and materialised the idea, he added.

He further said lawyers can play a vital role with the cooperation of the police to make this initiative successful. He said the role of police officers is also very important in resolving the matters.

The centres have already been established at Aabpara, Kohsar, Bhara Kahu, Bani Gala, Margalla, Shalimar, Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi, Shehzad Town, Nilore, Sihala and Saddar police stations, police spokesman said.
