Toddler found murdered in sugarcane fields

Boy had gone missing while playing outside home in village

LAHORE:

A two-year-old child was murdered reportedly after kidnapping in the Chung area on Sunday.

The victim, Zeeshan Ali, was playing outside his home in the Garawal village when he was reportedly abducted by unknown people.

The family of the boy started searching for him after he went missing.

During the search, his body was found dumped in sugarcane fields near a fertiliser factory.

Police took the body to the morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and said they were investigating the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi took notice of the incident of kidnapping and murder of the young child and sought a report from the inspector general of police.

The chief minister said those involved in the murder should be brought into the stern grip of law at the earliest.

He asserted that the murderers deserved severe punishment in accordance with the law and the family of the victim must be provided justice at any cost. The chief minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

The CM also took notice of another incident I which a citizen was injured by kite string in Gulberg and sought a report from the police. He ordered legal action against those found responsible for negligence along with the best possible treatment facilities for the injured citizen. He added that indiscriminate action should be taken against those flouting the ban on kite flying.
