ISLAMABAD:

During the hearing of a case related to local government elections, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Friday told the petitioner to prepare for the general elections that will be held next year.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) headed by CJ Bandial heard the petition related to LG polls in Dadu district.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel took the stand that documents were submitted under the census block of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP lawyer argued that the petitioner did not choose the right ward to contest the election. The LG elections were earlier delayed due to floods, he added.

He pointed out that the high court has given instructions to announce the polling date.

On this, the CJ told the petitioner’s lawyer that he should prepare for the “big election”.

He remarked that the elections will be held next year.

Following this, the apex court dismissed the petition.
