Ace filmmaker penned a poem and a note on his return to his ‘first home-the cinemas’

Karan Johar, known for directing some of the best romantic dramas in Bollywood, is returning to his “first home,” which for him is the cinemas, again after a long seven-year hiatus. While he was still producing and working on other things, Johar teased his grand comeback earlier with a star-studded project titled Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. And we finally have a release date for the epic love story between Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.

Keeping up with the drama in his films, Johar’s comeback announcement wasn’t a simple one. The Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham filmmaker posted a note followed by an adorable poem on his Instagram describing the film and its star cast while adding that the film will release on April 28 next year.

“After 7 years, it's time for me to return to my first home - the cinemas. I had the absolute honour of working with not one, but many illustrious actors on the set of my film. The familial nostalgic feeling of an ensemble cast creates music that captivates the hearts and a story that runs deep to the roots of our family traditions,” read his note.

“It's that time again -to huddle with your family and friends, buy the popcorn and witness just sheer love & entertainment unfold on the big screen. We're overwhelmed and impatiently excited to finally inform. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in cinemas on 28th April 2023.”

Two hours before the release date was revealed, Johar also penned a poem to tease that a “message” is coming soon.

The poem, originally in Hindi, loosely translates to, “Love will be revived after 7 years with music by Pritam and Amitabh Bhattacharya matching his tune. Alia will star in the film and Ranveer will be himself having a blast. What a pair, what a film it will be. Jaya will be in an unseen avatar and you will fall in love with Shabana. Dharmendra's swag is still intact, we are coming and this is a fact. So wait for the evening for my message. This film is for every age group - young ones to senior citizens.”

Johar last directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan in lead roles.
