LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi fixed for further arguments a plea seeking implementation of Prime Minister’s package through which either a plot or Rs500,000 were to be given to the legal heirs of those officials who die during service.

Petitioner Shamim Bibi’s counsel argued that the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a package for those officials who die during service claiming the legal heirs will be given the money or the plot.

He said after this announcement, the establishment division had issued a notification.

But astonishing enough that few officials of NADRA had died during service but their legal heirs are not being given the benefits as per the announcement made by the prime minister.

The deputy attorney general argued that the establishment division’s notification was confined only to the employees of the federation. While the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had its own policy for its employees, he further implored the court.

The establishment division’s notification does not apply upon the employees of NADRA.
