Opposition lawmakers raised slogans against the arrest of PTI Senator Azam Swati

Pandemonium marred the Senate session on Thursday as the lawmakers from the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) launched a noisy protest for the issuance of the production order of Azam Swati.

The session was held with Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair. The House passed four bills moved by Minister of State for Law and Justice Shahadat Awan and Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman.

The approved bills were the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, the Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Bill, 2022, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and the Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

Later, the opposition lawmakers raised slogans against the arrest of PTI Senator Azam Swati. They also staged a sit-in in from of the chairman’s dais, demanding the production order.

The chairman instructed the lawmakers to let the proceedings continue, but to no avail. Later, the chairman was forced to adjourn the session till Friday morning.
