Khyber-Pakhtunkhuwa government has decided to initiate diploma and certificate courses for 1,230 youngsters through scholarships in Kohat, Hangu and Karak of Kohat division.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in this regard was signed among Kohat Division Development Project (KDDP), Higher Education Department (HED) and Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) in the presence of K-P Chief Secretary Dr Shehzad Khan Bangash.
Project Director (PD) KDDP Asmatullah Wazir signed HERA MoU with Fazal Qadir and that of HED with its Secretary.
Additional Chief Secretary Shuhab Ali Shah, Secretary Planning and development Shah Mehmood Khan, Secretary HED Daood Khan and Director General Sustainable Development Unit Suhail Khan were also present.
Asmatullah, while informing participants about the program, said that eligible candidates for degree, diploma or certificate courses will be awarded scholarships worth Rs349 million. He added that the amount will include tuition fee, books/library, boarding, residential and stipend.
PD added that higher education regulatory authority will facilitate KDDP scholars in courses related to health, technical, mobile and digital expertise.
Asmatullah went on to say that HED will assist the scholars in the undergraduate degree programs related to petroleum and gas engineering, energy and power engineering, health and nursing.
