Dismissed cop arrested for killing fire dept employees
The Rangers and police, acting on an intelligence-based information, conducted a joint operation and arrested an accused Sheikh Bilal Zafar Farooqui, involved in terrorist activities, from Manzoor Colony and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.
According to details, on October 1, the accused, along with his accomplice, entered a fire brigade station located in Korangi district and opened fire, allegedly killing two fire brigade employees, Mehboob and Aamir on the spot and injuring another one, Irshad who later died during the treatment.
The accused has been arrested before and jailed. Raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the accused.
The arrested accused and arms recovered from his possession have been handed over to the police for further legal action.
The SP Investigation Korangi, Abraiz Ali Abbasi told The Express Tribune that the arrested accused, Sheikh Bilal is a dismissed constable from the counter-terrorism department of the police.
The accused was previously arrested for killing the KMC's deputy director near Hasan Square. The accused was released from jail some time ago, the SP said, adding that the father of the accused Liaquat Zafar Farooqui was a fire officer in the fire brigade department stationed at Lyari fire station who was killed after being abducted in August 2011. In revenge, Bilal killed three firefighters.
