The city continues to see a rise in the number of dengue cases as another patient lost his life to the vector-borne disease, after which the death toll has reached 40 in Karachi this year.
As per released statistics by the Sindh Health Department, one death and 235 cases have surfaced in Karachi during the last 24 hours.
Moreover, 78 dengue cases were reported in Hyderabad, seven in Jamshoro, one in Tando Allahyar, two in Thatta, two in Tharparkar, seven in Umarkot, nine in Mirpur Khas, one in Larkana, eight in Sukkur, while two cases were reported from Nowshera Feroz and Sanghar.
A total of 352 cases have been reported during the last 24 hours from Sindh after which the total number of infected patients in the month of October has reached 3145, whereas the dengue tally this year has reached 13299.
The total death toll in the current year has reached 44.
The heavy and prolonged monsoon rains took a heavy toll on the city’s drainage and sewerage system which collapsed, inundating streets, roads and entire neighbourhoods with stinking sewage-mixed slush and turning them into breeding grounds for mosquitos, according to health experts.
